This month we interview Daniel Winter, Manager at Lost Rivers in London Designer Outlet. We catch up with him to find out more about his passion for food and drink.
What inspired you to work in the food and drink industry?
I was a professional athlete but I came out of sport when the freebies stopped. Luckily, I always had a real love for food then. With the lack of involvement with sport, I found a real passion for booze… All in all, I couldn’t be in a better game.
Tell us what we can expect from Lost Rivers Bar and Kitchen?
You can expect a great atmosphere with really friendly staff and a very cool ‘boss man’. We are open every day until late and we serve traditional British food with a modern twist. We also have a great list of drinks and the finest craft ales. This includes our own quality stout called Silk Stream which is named after the lost river which flows through Wembley. All of this can be enjoyed with an eclectic mix of live music from the UK’s best undiscovered talents.
If you could recommend anything on your menu what would it be?
Our fantastic executive chef Matt Reuther has perfected “the Wembley Pie.” This is a steak, mushroom and Silk Stream stout pie and we think it’s everything you could ever want from a good British pie; it has two pastry types, so we are really showing off! In relation to the drink recommendation, any of my own recipe beer cocktails will go down a treat. If you are more beer-driven, one of our own brewed beers is a sure-fire win.
What do you like most about Wembley Park?
It has to be the sense of family that runs through the area. You can really feel it and I am very lucky to feel accepted into it.
If you could go back in time, when and where would you go?
Once upon a time I acquired a very special and very rare bottle of a certain scotch…one drunken night I ended up finishing the bottle. I think I would go back to that night and make sure I was not such a fool!
If you could have dinner with anyone who would it be and why?
It would defiantly be Ferran Adrià – This man can cook like no other and is something of an inspiration. He gets 2 million enquiries a year to his restaurant and he must have something I need!
