Nile Rodgers to Launch International Busking Day 2018
London, 18th July 2018 – Music icon and multiple Grammy award-winning composer, producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers will launch International Busking Day at Wembley Park this Saturday, July 21.
Part of Wembley Park’s, ‘Summer of Play’ cultural programme the legendary musician will officially open International Busking Day on behalf of the Park and the Mayor of London with a special appearance at 11:30am.
The day will see other music acts kicking off around midday with performances from double platinum singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner, UK Top 40 story-telling pop sensation Nina Nesbitt, iconoclastic bluesman Lewis Floyd Henry and No.1 Irish chart phenomenon, Keywest.
People of all ages are welcome to this global showcase of talent and invited to take part in other music, circus and dance activities on the day. Why not take part in a loop pedal masterclass, introduce yourself to street dance or a balloon sculpting workshop during the day?
International Busking Day is supported by the Mayor of London and builds on the success of the Busk in London programme and their Gigs Busking Competition which, earlier this year, celebrated its 10th anniversary.
The main event will be held outside The SSE Arena, Wembley Park, the leading music venue at the heart of Brent, which has been named the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture for 2020.
