Rendezvous International Parkour Gathering XIII 2018 to be held at Wembley Park for the first time
Are you ready for a weekend of fun, movement, action and community staged in the heart of London’s newest creative district?
Wembley Park is proud to be hosting the 2018 Rendezvous International Parkour Gathering XIII!
As the official destination partner for this year’s gathering, Wembley Park is excited to bring the Rendezvous team to the streets and structures of Wembley in the biggest gathering ever!
Taking place on the 18th and 19th of August, the event will be a weekend of fun, movement, action and community featuring kids and adults workshops and training, with performances from some of the world’s best practitioners
Wembley Park hosts the event, previously staged at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and South Bank, as part of its Summer of Play cultural season, which includes 300 hours of free events, workshops, screenings and displays.
The Rendezvous International Parkour Gathering XIII will see parkour and movement practitioners from all over the world gathering at Wembley Park for the annual training extravaganza. On Sunday 19 August, a professionally choreographed performance by the Parkour Generations artists will take place in Wembley Park, repeated twice during the course of the day, on a purpose-built structure.
The event is open to people of all ages, experience, levels of ability and fitness: the perfect place for beginners to get started with parkour and to be welcomed into one of the most inclusive, friendly and helpful communities out there – with guest coaches coming in from the USA, Brazil, Croatia, South Korea, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Denmark and more, as well as the entire Parkour Generations UK collective.
This will also be the first year that a Kids Rendezvous event will take place, led by a dedicated team of youth parkour coaching experts, giving 7-15 year olds a chance to try out parkour and develop their skills.
Dan Edwardes, Chief Executive of Parkour Generations, said: ‘We’re thrilled to bring the world-famous Rendezvous event to London’s iconic Wembley Park for the first time. This is the 13th year of holding the international parkour gathering in the UK, and we can think of no better venue than Wembley Park.’
On behalf of Quintain, the regeneration specialists delivering Wembley Park, Chief Executive Officer, Angus Dodd said: ‘We are really pleased to partner with Parkour Generations to bring such an exciting event to Wembley Park as a key part of our first ever summer cultural programme, Summer of Play. Parkour is a great way to encourage young people to have fun while keeping fit, and I’m looking forward to seeing some of the world’s best practitioners take over the spaces of Wembley Park.’
