Xmasbox has landed in Wembley Park
Wembley Park – the world-famous location, fast becoming the must-visit destination for North West London – will kick off the Christmas season with Xmasbox on 21 November 2018. Xmasbox celebrates the area’s huge range of Christmas activities, as it becomes the one stop shop for shopping, streetfood, entertainment and culture – all just under 20 minutes away from central London.
Boxpark – the third and largest to date – will launch in Wembley Park in December. It will be home to an incredible selection of independent food and beverage vendors like Nanny Bills, Smoky Boys, Ugly Dumpling and Thai Express to name a few, and a fully programmed 20,000 sq. ft. dedicated events space. Living up to its “Eat. Drink. Play.” manifesto, Boxpark Wembley will host a series of festive events throughout December including Christmas movie showings on the big screen plus a series of workshops, live music events and carol performances.
Wembley Park’s pop-up Christmas Vintage Market, organised by So Last Century Vintage and Retro Fair, will make a special appearance at Boxpark, with unusual and unique gift ideas, including homeware, ceramics, prints, vintage clothing, accessories and much more.
London Designer Outlet will also be the only shopping centre in the UK offering outlet prices, hands-free shopping and store-to-door delivery anywhere in mainland Britain within 24 hours*. In celebration of the launch on 1st December, the first 3,000 guests who spend £125 will have their LDO Christmas shopping delivered to their homes, workplace or anywhere else they choose free of charge. Powered by Dropit*, there will even be some same-day delivery slots available!
Bringing light and life to the squares and boulevards, Wembley Park will host a unique and Instagram worthy installation, the Light Maze. Designed by Spanish design Studio Brut Deluxe, the immersive and interactive lights-meet-glass labyrinth makes its very first visit to London. This will be complemented by Christmas illuminations right across the neighbourhood, while community choirs will bring the season to musical life.
International design journal Disegno is to take over the public spaces at Wembley Park this Christmas, with projects created in collaboration with leading design studios, including a specially-commissioned Christmas tree and an original artwork for the Spanish Steps.
For those looking for world class entertainment, The SSE Arena, Wembley will also bring further excitement hosting world-famous artists during the run up to Christmas, such as Ms. Lauren Hill, André Rieu and Def Leppard. Meanwhile Cineworld Wembley will be showing all the Christmas blockbusters, and well as seasonal family favourites.
Speciality Café and Bar, Black Sheep Coffee will be introducing three special cocktails to their Fizz List, ideal sippers for that casual after-work drink, Xmas Party or family gathering. As well as adding their exclusive winter warmer, Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate.
This winter Wembley Park is launching a new programmed cultural space within Wembley Library called The Corner. Over the coming months it will host a range of activities, including workshops, film nights and musical theatre. Visitors can learn new skills, including how to make films on their mobile phone, while poet and writer Dzifa Benson will run a five-week creative writing course, concluding with a spoken word showcase and the opportunity to perform at spoken word events across London promoted by Dzifa. The Corner will also see the launch of the inaugural Wembley Park Film Nights – Celebrating Filmmakers of Colour, presenting documentary, short and feature films with Q&As, from award winning filmmakers to emerging talent. Rooted in the diverse cultures of Brent, Origin Arts will present Shamrocks and Sugar, an original piece of music theatre exploring the history of Irish and African communities in the Caribbean through research, song, film and performance.
The Yellow, Wembley Park’s new purpose-built community hub continues to offer a range of activities for residents and visitors to get fit, learn new skills, or get creative at one of our regular classes or one-off workshops.
Councillor M. Butt, leader of Brent Council, said “With Christmas fast approaching, you can already feel Brent getting into the festive spirit. With the always impressive lights switch on, the fantastic local shopping, the many exciting entertainment offerings – especially at the heart of Wembley – not to mention our award-winning borough-wide cultural opportunities, Brent is very much the place to be, and where everyone is welcome to join in the fun this Christmas.”
