INTERIM HEAD OF MARKETING FOR THE FA
I’ve worked in football and sport for 32 years. I started out in 1984 working as a press officer for Watford when Elton John was Chairman.
My original background is copywriting and that’s how I entered the marketing world. At heart I’m a words man. It’s what drew me to songwriting – my other passion in life.
As a teenager, I read Hunter Davies’ biography of the Beatles and it had a massive effect on me. I didn’t come from a musical family but it ignited a burning desire to learn the guitar and write songs.
I’ve been writing songs since those teenage days, but it’s only now that I’ve started performing and recording my music. It’s almost like a second career that I’ve come in to in my late fifties.
