History of Starbucks
The first Starbucks opened in 1971 in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Back then, the company was just a single coffee shop but in 1981 Howard Schultz, Starbucks chairman and CEO, fell in love with the brand after stopping by the Seattle store. After travelling to Italy Schultz knew he had to bring the Italian coffeehouse tradition back to the United States so he later purchased and grew the brand.
