Youth Realities: Domestic Abuse Awareness

Join BOXPARK Wembley for their Domestic Abuse Awareness Month Event on the 24th of October 2022, consisting of two key events.

The first part of the day will be a spoken-word event following the theme of 'relationship abuse and survival,'. Kicking off at 2 pm, BOXPARK Wembley are introducing tremendously talented young performers and open-mic opportunities for any poets, rappers, motivational speakers or singers, bringing you great vibes from the famous BOXPARK Wembley. That's not all - we also have a fantastic writing workshop and an incredible headliner, Phoenics. The day part of the event wraps up at 5:00 pm.

For the second part of their Domestic Abuse Awareness Month event, between 6:00 - 9:00 pm, they'll be hosting 'An Evening with Youth Realities: Teenage Relationship Abuse, where are we going so wrong?' Which includes a panel discussion with sector specialists Sara Kirkpatrick (Youth Realities Trustee and CEO, Welsh Women's Aid), Tanya Pinnock (VAWG specialist and Founder, Strength of a Woman), Dr Ana Fitzsimons (specialist research into young person IPV) and Alice Lilley (from Respect UK's Young Person's Service).

We'll see incredible performances from Miss Yankey and Lucrecia Seline, networking time with other specialist support services and a reflective workshop to challenge what we need to do on an individual, social and structural level to address and end teenage relationship abuse.

Teenage relationship abuse impacts 1 in 4 young people nationally, affecting how children and young people develop and understand relationships, their mental health and wellbeing, engagement in education, and so much more. However, the issue is yet to be addressed on the social and systemic scale it desperately needs.

Join to be part of a first-of-its-kind event, bringing together powerful voices and a chance to learn and contribute to our mission to #EndYouthDomesticAbuse, in turn working towards ending domestic abuse for all.

Youth Realities is a registered charity (1197209), and all funds raised for this event will contribute to our charitable mission to end youth domestic abuse. You can find out more about our life-changing work on our website
