Spanish Riding School

Spanish Riding School at OVO Arena Wembley in Wembley Park.

The Spanish Riding School of Vienna is the oldest riding academy worldwide that has been maintaining and practising classical horsemanship in its Renaissance tradition of the “High School”. For over 459 years the ancient knowledge regarding the training of horses up to perfection has been passed down from one generation of riders to the next. To this day, the Spanish Riding School continues its tradition and is proud of its unique heritage. A heritage that was founded by the Habsburgs and to this day finds royal admirers: H.R.H. Princess Anne visited the Spanish Riding School several times. As a world-class equestrian institution, the Spanish Riding School Vienna continues its role as an ambassador of European history and Austrian cultural heritage.

On their perfectly prepared journey to the UK, the stallions will be accompanied by stable master Andreas Haipl and their trusted grooms. The Lipizzaners travel with a video-monitored special transporter. This is equipped with air suspension, ventilation and a floor covering that is easy on the joints. On arrival well-equipped stables and special feed ensure perfect conditions. While the horses are the most precious treasures and will be treated as such during their trip, the team will also travel with 36 transport crates and about four tons of equipment, including white deerskin saddles, gold bridles, velvet saddle pads and the traditional uniforms of the riders.
