At QTL, anyone can lead and anyone can follow, and complete beginners are not just welcome but expected. A guided class runs from 6:30pm, then from 8:00pm the floor opens for social dancing, practice and a drink, so you can try out what you've learned among a friendly crowd.
Come as a couple or come on your own. Tango is a conversation between two people, and this is a space to start it however feels right for you.
Your first drink is on us: a glass of Merlot, Summer Sangria or a non-alcoholic option, redeemable with your token at check-in.
"If you want to dance tango, and maybe experiment with who does what, and why, and how, we want to encourage that curiosity and share our passion with you." -Ray Batchelor, QTL Team
The venue
Studio Five is a restaurant, bar and event space inside the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, home to the smash-hit musical Starlight Express and, from July, I'm Every Woman, the Chaka Khan musical. With its wooden dance floor and beautiful velvet décor, it's a warm, theatrical Wembley Park setting for an evening of tango.
What to bring
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Smooth-soled shoes make turning easier if you have them, but they're not essential.
Good to know
Places are limited to keep the floor comfortable, so booking ahead is strongly recommended. As the first drink is included, this event is 18+.
About our event partner: Queer Tango London
Queer Tango London (QTL) is a London-based Argentine tango organisation open to everyone, free of the rigid convention that men must lead and women must follow. They believe anyone can dance with anyone, whatever their gender or sexuality, and that tango is good for both mind and body. If you want to dance and experiment with who does what, why and how, that curiosity is exactly what they'e there to encourage. You'll always be welcome at QTL, whoever you are and whoever you wish to dance with.
They run regular, friendly and inclusive events in a safe and accepting environment, supporting everyone from complete beginners to seasoned dancers. Their home is the Bishopsgate Institute, and they also welcome international guest teachers and bring queer tango teaching across London. At every event, people are encouraged to dance with and learn from one another.
We're delighted to have QTL bring their warmth and their signature class to Wembley Park for Pride 2026. Find out more at queertangolondon.com, or follow @queertangolondonon Instagram.
