History of Lindt
Lindt was founded in 1845 by the confectioner David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his son Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann. The pair wanted to be the first ones in the German-speaking part of Switzerland to manufacture chocolate in a solid form.
This started with a small confectionery shop in Zurich's Old Town, eventually securing licensing agreements in Italy (1947), Germany (1950) and France (1954). Cut to 2020 and the Lindt & Sprüngli brand now own more than 410 shops worldwide.
