History of Denby
After finding a seam of clay in Denby in 1806, local entrepreneur William Bourne decided to start producing salt-glazed pottery and gave the job of running his new business to his youngest son, Joseph.
Since then, the company has been through several big changes, moving from stoneware to kitchenwares and most notably, changing ownership from the Bourne family in 1942. Today, Denby produces a broad range of stylish and durable tableware for UK and overseas markets.
