History of Moss Bros

Moss Bros was founded in 1851 after Moses Moss combined two small shops in London’s Covent Garden to create one bigger store. Moss ran and grew the business alongside his two sons until his death in 1894.

Focussed on growing the business further, in 1897 the sons set up the Moss Bros Hire service for a fee of just seven and sixpence (37.5p) per hire. From this modest beginning, Moss Bros now has a network of over 130 hire stores in the UK and Ireland and the brand hires out thousands of suits each week.
