History of NEXT
Next’s roots date back to 1864 when J Hepworth & Son set up Gentleman’s Tailors in Leeds, England. Fast forward 118 years to 1981 when Hepworth then bought a chain of shops to develop into a womenswear brand called NEXT. By July 1982 there were 70 stores across the UK having only opened the first store in February.
Over the next decade, the retail giant branched out to produce NEXT’s first homeware and children’s wear ranges. And by 2015, the brand had extended its home shopping facility to the USA and over 30 other countries across the globe, as well as opening its 546th store.
