History of Villeroy & Boch

Villeroy & Boch was founded in 1748 by François Boch and his three sons. In 1836, Boch merged with stoneware manufacturer Nicolas Villeroy and Villeroy & Boch was born. Thirty years later the brand took its first steps into the housing and construction sector by opening up a mosaic factory.

Then, after the introduction of running water in the 19th century, Villeroy & Boch started producing sanitary ceramics and played a big role in bringing bathroom culture to the European market. As the brand continued to transition and innovate they made the move into tableware to create the company we know and love today.
