As Mother’s Day approaches, we’re facing our second consecutive ‘Mothering Sunday’ in some form of lockdown, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be anything less than spectacular.
Thankfully, Wembley Park has a whole host of goodies, takeaways, and vouchers available to make this Mother’s Day one to remember. We’ve compiled a list of some of the most special Mother’s Day gifts and treats, as well as some fun things to do in Wembley Park. There’s never been a better time to spoil the mum in your life.
Treat her to a Cream Tea Workshop from Bread Ahead
We know that most years, you’d whisk your mum out for a posh afternoon tea or a cream tea in an atmospheric tearoom or hotel. A day out may not be possible this year, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the decadent scones and sweet jam.
Bread Ahead, one of the country’s most celebrated bakeries, offers a whole host of online courses and workshops for one the best Mother's Day gifts. Their Cream Tea Workshop is designed as ‘the perfect workshop to celebrate mum.’ The two of you can participate together, or she can take the class on her own.
If your motherly figure isn’t the scone and jam type, not to worry. Bread Ahead offers dozens of online courses featuring both sweet and savoury bakes from around the world. Pizza, sourdough doughnuts, puff pastry, and so much more – buy her a voucher for a specific class or let her choose her favourite.
Paint the day away
Mother's Day is the perfect time to spend some quality time with the mum in your life doing something exciting. Whilst that might not be the easiest this year, there are ways to do something fun virtually.
Switch up the usual zoom calls and facetime for a step-by-step guided paint class by Second Floor Studio's Laura Marrs. Perfect for beginners, in the relaxing Sunday session you'll recreate a peaceful Spring scene and leave you with your very own masterpiece to hang with pride. The workshop is family-friendly, suitable for all adults and anyone over 10. To book your place and find out what you'll need, click here.
Have a picnic with a delicious takeaway
With lockdown rules changing as of March 8, the rules on outdoor mixing will be loosened. You will be allowed to enjoy a picnic with members of your household or one other person from a different household. Wembley Park is the perfect place for a Mother’s Day picnic, with plenty of different pocket parks and greenspaces.
One of our favourite Wembley things to do is grab a takeaway from one of the Boxpark vendors or Pasta Remoli and dine in the grass or on a bench. After being cooped up all winter long, your mum is sure to enjoy some handmade pasta in the sunshine.
Grab a coffee and go for a stroll around the Wembley Park Art Trail
Wondering what to do in Wembley Park this Mother’s Day? Any motherly person would appreciate spending time with her kids and checking out some public outdoor art. As of 8th March, you can meet one other person not in your household to grab a coffee from one of Wembley Park’s many excellent coffee vendors, and take a stroll past the area’s varied and unique public art. Follow this Public Art Trail to make the most of your day together, and see some beautiful and thought-provoking pieces.
Treat them to some goodies from Wembley Park Market
One of the past year's silver linings has been a greater emphasis on shopping local and supporting ethical brands. Wembley Park Market is home to artisanal shops and speciality food traders, all offering goodies and gifts that you can’t get on the High Street.
If you’re looking for things to do in Wembley Park, bring your mum to the market and stock up on a curated mix of essentials and treats. Using fresh eggs from Planet Organic, sauces from Rubies in the Rubble, fresh beans from Cricklewood Coffee, and Spanish ham from Brindisa, you can create a cracking Mother’s Day brunch.
Be sure to add some handmade body products from Kutis Skincare, Bramble & Blossom, and Delhicious Body. Your mum will be pampered, full, and happy – that’s what we all want for our ‘sheroes’ on Mother’s Day!
A lazy Sunday takeaway will hit the spot
If you just fancy staying in and relaxing with your mum or the pandemic means you can't pay her a visit, when why not treat her to a thoroughly relaxing experience and order a decadent takeaway instead? It's hard to beat being curled up on the sofa, watching your favourite shows and eating delicious food from the best Wembley Park takeaways.
With dozens of different options, everyone can get exactly what they want – especially mum. From gourmet burgers from Nanny Bill’s and coffees from Costa to fresh Greek salads from Opa! and ramen from Wagamama, Wembley Park has a little of whatever you fancy.
Gift mum with a voucher so she can get ready for summer
If everything goes according to plan, Summer 2021 should be one for the history books. Of course, we’ll all still need to be careful, but everyone is excited for days at the beach, drinks in pub gardens, and celebrations in parks. Your mum is going to need a whole new wardrobe for all of this fun in the sun.
Choose some of her favourite shops in the London Designer Outlet – perhaps she’d like a voucher from Phase Eight for a cute summer dress, or a gift card to spend on outdoorsy gear from Trespass? Remember - as of April 12, she can also get her hair done in the salon, so why not treat her to a wash, cut, and blowdry from Chop Chop?
Wembley Park is here to help you celebrate Mother’s Day 2021
With plenty of delicious things to eat and drink, a whole host of unique shops, and free public art trails, there are tons of things to do in Wembley Park this Mother’s Day. Of course, spending time with your mum and showing her how much you care is what this day is really all about – they deserve the best. Happy Mother’s Day.
