History of Lee
Lee was founded in 1889 in Kansas by Henry David Lee and four business partners. Originally they sold groceries and other dry good staples from around the world under the Lee brand. Then, in 1912 after recognising the possibilities of business in overalls, the company opened its first garment factory to produce overalls and work jackets.
During World War II, Lee supported the war effort by manufacturing clothes and flight suits for the US military. But by 1954 denim had shifted from simply being practical workwear to being a fashion staple and the Lee brand as we know it today was born.
