History of Yankee Candles

It’s Christmas 1969 and sixteen-year-old Mike Kittredge doesn't have the money to buy his mum a present, so instead, he melts some crayons down to make her a candle. Seeing this, a neighbour decided to buy the candle and with that money, Mike went out and bought enough wax to make two more candles. The Yankee Candle empire was born.

After starting from such humble beginnings, the brand now produces 200 million candles per year, employs more than 6,000 workers and sells candles in 475 company-owned retail stores and authorised retailers around the world.
